FOX History & Entertainment in association with programme partner, INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage) announced the launch of the second season of its biggest nationwide school engagement programme, ‘My City My History’. Kiran Bedi was present at the occasion to launch the initiative and extend her support. The initiative encourages school children to highlight the lesser known historical treasures of their respective cities and in the process discover multiple aspects of their rich heritage.
After a successful season one, the initiative in its second avatar promises to be bigger and better. ‘My City My History’ will reach out to over 10 lakh children from all 28 states in India covering over 1000 schools. And that’s not all… The channel is launching the initiative in a phase wise approach wherein they will have 4 regional rounds and five national winners. The final national winners will get a once in a lifetime opportunity to represent their city and its history on FOX History & Entertainment. All participants will receive certificates of participation and merit based awards.

Extending support for the unique initiative, Kiran Bedi, retired India Police Service (IPS) officer and social activist said, “It is important for children of today’s day and age to know more about the heritage behind some of the historical monuments in their cities and it is initiatives like this that stimulate their minds and inspire them to be at a constant learning curve. I would like to congratulate FOX History and Entertainment to launch such a unique initiative and wish them all the best for the second season.”
To promote the initiative, the channel is organising heritage walks across all 28 states of India. In Delhi, the channel invited 30 school children from Columbus, Modern School (Barakhambah Road), Sanskriti and The Delhi Police School to witness the untold story of ‘Lodhi Garden’ with INTACH Co-Convener, Delhi Chapter, Ms. Swapna Liddle. The walk covered the house the tombs of the Sayyid and Lodi dynasty, Lodi Garden.
The initiative targets children aged between 11-15 years (class VI-IX) across India. They can either participate by logging on to www.foxhistory.com/mycity or sending the entries to MY CITY MY HISTORY, C/O INTACH, 71 Lodhi Estate New Delhi 110003 or through their schools. Entries can be submitted in Hindi or English, which includes a mandatory written submission (not more than 750 words) with an option of supporting material in any format including photographs, videos, PowerPoint, etc. Children also have an option of submitting multiple entries. The last date to submit entries is 31 October, 2010.
The entries will be screened by a renowned panel of judges including FHE and INTACH representatives. The judging criteria will be the factual correctness and the composition of the story. The shortlisted finalists will then be guided by experts from FOX History & Entertainment for scripting and hosting their stories on television. The five winners will shoot at the location for the story to go on-air.
