Here’s some good news for Punjabi Film lovers. Punjabi Academy, a body under Delhi Government that promotes Punjabi language, literature and culture in the capital, presents the 2nd edition of International Punjabi Film Festival at capital. The festival is scheduled between January 12 and January 15, 2012 at Bhai Vir Singh Sahitya Sadan, Gole Market and Odeon Cinema, Connaught Place.
The festival will screen Punjabi films of both Documentary and commercial categories which reflects the richness and variety of the region. The internationally acclaimed Punjabi films like Khushiyan, directed by Trilok Malik and Sukhmani are also among the films to be showed during the fest.
The renowned directors, producers and artists of Punjab film industry is going to make their presence in the film festival. This film festival also provides a platform for common audience to interact with their favourite film makers and also understand various aspects of film making.
According to Mr. Rawail Singh, Secretary Punjabi Academy, “Since its inception, Punjabi Academy always strived to promote the culture and heritage of Punjab. As film is one of the popular media for promoting ethnic cultures we look forward to this festival with a lot of expectations. Keeping in view the response we received on the first edition of festival, this year our all effort is to make it whole new experience for the audience.”
As per the festival format, each day there will be three films shown in the commercial section starting at 12.30 pm. On the first day, which is dedicated to the documentaries, the screening will start at 4 pm. The films showcased in the documentary section are: Aatu Khoji (by Rajiv), Pakhi (by Gurcharan Singh Channi), Bhai Vir Singh (by Amarjit) and Adda Khadda – The Game of Life (Paramjit Kittu). In the commercial section, the films including Ik Kudi Punjab Di, Ekam, Khushiyan, Jawani Zindabad, Yaar Anmulle, Sukhmani, Jihne Mere Dil Lutiya, Mitti and Heer Ranjha will be screened during January 13-15 at Odeon Cinema. |
